Offer feedback, pose questions, or have a general discussion on Dr Alexander Clarke's 'Tribal Class Vessels'.
Pronunciation of surnames is always the very devil if your knowledge comes solely from reading books: how did you discover that Vian was pronounced like that?
Sorry for the late response on our team's part - here's Dr Clarke's answer:
'His own autobiography has a sort of phonics section where he recounts explaining it to his school master.'
Dr Clarke would also like to add that this is from his memory - his copy of the autobiography is currently lost in his pile of books!
